A Decade

April 19, 2002 was the day that I received the news that I had cancer. In some ways, it feels like much longer than ten years have passed since that day. But then, when I make my mind go back to that time in my life, it seems like yesterday. I thank God for giving me cancer because I know His will is perfect and I trust His plan for my life.
A few days after surgery.

Going through chemo.

It definitely was not something I enjoyed at the time. Looking back, though, I see that going through cancer drew me closer to the Lord and gave me a testimony to share with others. I am so grateful for all of the prayers, love, and support showered on me and my family during my battle. I praise God that He brought me through, and I know He will guide me through the rest of my life on this earth until I reach heaven to be with Him.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11

"How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee."  Psalm 139:17-18

I hope that this post encouraged you today. To God be the glory. <3

  3. Today has been a great day to reflect on God's grace. I am thankful the LORD gave you to us once (in 1993), and again (2002) when He spared your life from cancer. You are truly a blessing from the LORD!

  4. Wow! I feel like you do, Paige: the time seems both longer and shorter than ten years. What a beautiful testimony our Father has given to you -- and to all of us who were with you on your journey. You are amazing! What poignant, touching photos of you during that tough season, and what an amazingly gorgeous young woman you are now! I love all three of your photos, sweetheart, because your life is inextricably tied to your cancer, your healing, and your faith in Jesus--and, of course, to all of us who love you. Thank you for sharing this with all of us, my darling girl. You are such a blessing to all of us, and we rejoice that you're still with us!

    Love forever,
    Nonnie
